This is only a test.
Paradise - The test is easy. It's Hawaii for goodness sake. How hard could it possibly be?
Reality - Pretty fracking hard. Expect more test taking in January. Unfortunately.
So now I'm job hunting. But I've been told there a 30% pay cut for moving to the island. Do they not know how much a Nordstrom shopping habit can cost a person? Luckily there is only one single Nordstrom on the entire island, so I just have to not visit it. Ever.
Where Paradise and Reality Meet
Left Hawaii right after high school, but now I'm back. With family in tow.

The Weather
Paradise -
warm, sunny, and the trade winds are blowing.
Reality -
pretty spot on. It can get very hot, and then the trade winds blow and
everything is 5 x 5*. That supposes I am
out of the hot room I spend most of my time in. First because I was
looking for a job on the internet, then because I was studying for The Test,
and then again because after The Test I needed to look for a job again.
If you aren't in the path of the tradewinds it gets pretty darn hot.
The humidity is like steaming dim sum - and you are the dim sum.
*Extra points if you caugh the Joss Whedon reference. I love
Joss Whedon, everything he writes, everything... but I haven't seen The
Avengers yet. So no spoilers please.

Aloha!
I loved growing up in Hawaii. It's built in bragging rights - growing up in paradise. But the main reason I moved here (and convinced the husband it was a good idea) was to be close to my large extended family ('ohana). And I love them. But still. It's living with your mom and dad and brother and other brother and his girlfriend and his kid and the aunt and the uncle and the dog....
So come along as me, the husband, and the girls (Wildchild and Bubs) navigate the waters and see if paradise and reality are anywhere near the same place.
